Lawn Care Services
Lawn Care in Sparks & Spanish Springs
Sparks lawns don't stay green by accident. Between compacted clay soil and summers that don't let up until October, a lawn left on its own turns to straw fast — and once it does, catching back up costs more than staying ahead of it ever would. Here's everything we do to keep a lawn actually alive out here, not just mowed.
Service 01
Lawn Mowing
Mowing sounds simple until you've seen what a rushed, dull-blade cut does to grass in July heat — it shreds instead of cutting, and the lawn browns within days. We run weekly service during peak growing season and switch clients to bi-weekly once things slow down, so you're not paying to mow grass that barely grew. Every visit includes edging and cleanup, not just a pass with the mower. Our lawn mowing service → is scheduled around your lawn's actual growth rate, not a fixed calendar that ignores the weather.
- Choose your mowing height
- Get grass clippings mulched
- Get edging done every visit
- Get walkways and driveways cleared
Service 02
Lawn Edging & String Trimming
A mowed lawn with sloppy edges still looks unfinished — it's the difference between a yard that reads as maintained and one that reads as "someone ran a mower over it once." We edge every walkway, driveway, and bed line on every visit, and string-trim the spots a mower can't reach: fence lines, around sprinkler heads, under low branches. It's a five-minute job that changes how the whole yard looks. Our edging and trimming service → is included with every mow, not billed as an extra.
- Get clean edges along walkways and beds
- Get fence lines and sprinkler heads trimmed
- Choose edging depth around garden beds
- Get clippings swept off hard surfaces
Service 03
Lawn Fertilization
Sparks soil is mineral-heavy and nutrient-poor, so grass here runs out of what it needs faster than it would somewhere with real topsoil. We fertilize on a season-by-season schedule tuned to when local grass actually uses the nutrients, not a generic four-times-a-year program copied from a different climate. Skip a season and the color drops off before anything looks visibly wrong. Our lawn fertilization service → keeps the color and density up without forcing a growth spurt your mowing schedule can't keep up with.
- Get a season-by-season feeding schedule
- Choose a program tuned to your lawn's needs
- Get soil-appropriate nutrient blends
- Get color and density tracked visit to visit
Service 04
Weed Control
Weeds don't show up because your lawn did something wrong — they show up because there was bare or thin turf for them to move into. We spot-treat what's already growing and thicken the lawn underneath, so there's less open ground for the next round to take root in. Spraying alone without fixing the thin patches just means paying for the same treatment again next season. Our weed control service → treats the actual cause, not just what's visible the day we show up.
- Get existing weeds spot-treated
- Get thin patches thickened up
- Choose spot treatment or full-lawn application
- Get a follow-up check next visit
Service 05
Pre-Emergent Weed Treatment
By the time you can see a weed, pre-emergent treatment is already too late for it — this one's entirely about timing. We apply it before weed seeds germinate in spring, catching the window before soil temperatures hit the trigger point local weeds are waiting for. Get it down a few weeks early or late and it barely does anything. Our pre-emergent weed treatment → is scheduled around actual Sparks soil temperatures, not a fixed date on a calendar.
- Get treatment timed to soil temperature
- Get spring and fall applications
- Choose crabgrass-targeted or broad coverage
- Get next season's timing logged
Service 06
Lawn Aeration
Compacted clay is the default soil condition around here, and compacted soil means water and fertilizer sit on top instead of reaching the roots that need them. Aeration pulls plugs out of the lawn to open the soil back up — it looks rough for about a week, then makes everything else you're paying for work better. We aerate once a year, timed to when the lawn recovers fastest. Our lawn aeration service → is the one visit that makes every other visit more effective.
- Get lawn cored to relieve compaction
- Get plugs left to break down naturally
- Choose annual or as-needed scheduling
- Get watering guidance after service
Service 07
Dethatching
Thatch is the dead grass and root layer that builds up between the soil and the green stuff you see, and once it's thick enough it blocks water from reaching the roots at all. Most lawns need it once a year; some need it more depending on grass type and growth. We pull it out with a walk-behind dethatcher, not a rake, because a rake barely scratches the surface on a lawn that's gone a year or two without it. Our dethatching service → is part of the standard rotation, not something we upsell after the fact.
- Get thatch pulled with a walk-behind dethatcher
- Get lawn checked for thatch depth first
- Choose annual or condition-based scheduling
- Get debris hauled away after the job
Service 08
Mulching
Mulching clippings back into the lawn instead of bagging them returns nitrogen to the soil for free — one of the few lawn care habits that actually saves money instead of costing more. We mulch on every standard mow unless the grass is too long or too wet to break down properly, in which case we bag it instead so it doesn't clump and smother the lawn underneath. Our mulching service → is a default part of the mow, not a separate line item.
- Get clippings mulched back into the lawn
- Choose bagging when grass is long or wet
- Get nitrogen returned to the soil for free
- Get mulching included on every standard mow
Service 09
Grass Seeding
Bare and thin patches don't fix themselves, and left alone they're just an open invitation for weeds to move in first. We overseed with grass varieties suited to this climate, not whatever's cheapest at the box store, timed to when the soil's warm enough for germination but before summer heat stresses new seedlings out. New seed needs more water than an established lawn for the first few weeks, and we'll tell you exactly how much. Our grass seeding service → is how a patchy lawn actually closes back up instead of staying patchy forever.
- Get bare and thin patches overseeded
- Choose grass varieties suited to this climate
- Get seeding timed to soil temperature
- Get watering instructions for new seed
Service 10
Yard Work
Not everything that needs doing fits neatly into "mowing" or "landscaping" — yard work is the catch-all for what's left: hauling debris, clearing a section that got away from you, picking up after a storm, prepping a yard before a big event. If it's outside and it needs doing, we can probably take care of it on the next visit instead of you finding a separate company. Our yard work service → covers the stuff that doesn't have its own category but still needs to get done.
- Get storm and seasonal debris hauled away
- Choose one-time or recurring cleanup
- Get overgrown areas cleared
- Get yard prepped before a big event
